Our Staff Deborah L. Layman, MM, NMT, MT-BC, is co-founder and co-director of Creating Connections Company, LLC. She is a board certified music therapist with advanced designation in Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Educational Psychology at Kent State University. Ms. Layman has extensive experience in working with special needs children of a wide range of ages and diagnoses, including autism spectrum disorder, Fragile X, cerebral palsy, mitochondrial disorders, sensory integration issues, auditory processing disorders, traumatic brain injury, and developmental trauma. Ms. Layman is the Chair of the Continuing Education Committee for the Certification Board for Music Therapists, the Music Therapy Grant Specialist at Beech Brook, and a member of the American Music Therapy Association, the Association of Ohio Music Therapists, and the Robert F. Unkefer Academy of Neurologic Music Therapy. Ms. Layman is a frequent national and international conference presenter and has published a variety of peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and manuals involving her research in music therapy. Ms. Layman's office/session hours for Spring 2011 are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Amy M. Lumadue, MA, LPC, is co-founder and co-director of Creating Connections Company, LLC. She is a licensed professional counselor specializing in autism spectrum disorder and early childhood developmental issues and has extensive experience in working with children with developmental disabilities and their families. Ms. Lumadue is currently employed as a therapist providing early childhood counseling at Crossroads. She is thoroughly trained in several treatment methodologies (including TEACCH and ABA), and is a candidate for advanced certification in DIR ®/Floortime TM. Ms. Lumadue's office/session hours for Spring 2011 are as privately scheduled. |
